So I Wrote a Book…

June 7, 2013 , , , ,

More like a dozen books, actually, but APRIL IN PARIS will be the first to jump outside the confines of my laptop (or Apple IIe computer or the hall closet at my parents’ house or my agent’s screams and frustration). It is scheduled to be released by Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’s Press in Spring/Summer 2014.

If you are a friend or family member and I told you about the book deal you had one of two reactions: “Wow, finally!” Or: “you write books? I thought you worked in finance?” Incidentally, the answers to both the book and the finance questions are “yes, I do” as well as “yes, I love it.”

If you know me well you know about the failed auctions, the failed book deal, the rejections, the books upon books upon books. We might’ve had seventh grade sleepovers during which all we did was write horrible tomes about girls really into the band Poison. You might’ve also heard me mention off-handedly, “yeah, sometimes I write for fun.” If you are nodding at this, you know me better than “well,” and better than most. My own kids were shocked by the news: “You don’t mean a real book, right?” My husband had to ask, “What’s it about?”

So, here we are at the start of the journey yet though I feel like I’ve already traveled a million miles over very rough road to merely reach the start. I’m excited, but nervous, about what the next million miles will bring.

Click here for a summary of the book, here for more of my background, and here for some highlights of the time period and people who inspired me. I welcome all questions, comments, and suggestions!
